She has a bachelor’s degree in Spanish Language and Literature, with a teaching specialization, from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba in Argentina, where she worked for several years as a full-time professor of Spanish grammar and linguistics. She has a Master of Arts degree in Hispanic philology from the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) in Spain and a second master’s degree in Spanish language from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Her research interests include Spanish grammar, discourse analysis, and academic literacies, and her work has been presented at conferences and published in academic journals, with some publications indexed by SCOPUS and Web of Science. She has published five Spanish textbooks: three for junior high school students in Mexico in Santillana publishing house (and in coauthorship with Federico Guzmán Rubio), and two in Argentina for university students (together with Silvia Sosa de Montyn). Currently Gabriela is a part-time lecturer at ITAM, where she teaches undergraduate classes in technical and academic writing as well as extension writing classes for professionals. In addition, she is completing her doctorate in Spanish from the Universidad de Valladolid in Spain, with her thesis research about political discourse in social networks.
