Alejandro Hernández D. earned a B.A. in Economics and a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from ITAM, and an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Economics (1989) from the University of Rochester (USA). Since 1993, he has been a member of ITAM’s Department of Economics. From 1997 to 2010 he served as ITAM’s Dean of the Division of Social Sciences and Law, and since 2010 he is the Provost. He is a member of several professional and academic associations, including the Econometric Society, where he was Chair of the Latin American Chapter from 1999 to 2003.
Dr. Arturo Fernández earned his B.A. in Economics from ITAM and his M.A. and Ph.D in Economics from University of Chicago. He won the second place of the Banamex National Prize of Economics in 1987. On January 1, 1992 became President of Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM).
Miguel holds a B.A. in Economics from ITAM and a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University. He has combined work in government with academic research. When inflation targetting was being adopted by the Banco de México, he developed – with Lorenza Martínez and Alejandro Werner – one of the first structural models used for that purpose. He was the Chief Economist of the Ministry of Finance of Mexico, as well as Undersecretary for Revenues and Undersecretary for Finance.
