Airam graduated in 2009 from the Bachelor of Mathematics of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, with the best academic performance in her class. Later, she did graduate from master and PhD in Probability and Statistics at CIMAT, in Guanajuato. The advisor of her master thesis is Dr. Víctor Rivero who also co-directed her PhD thesis with Arno Siri-Jégousse. During the fourth year of her PhD, she did a research stay at the Paris VI University, Pierre et Marie Curie (now Sorbonne University), in France. During this period of time she was part of the interdisciplinary group SMILE (“Stochastic Models for the Inference of Life Evolution”) led by Prof. Lambert. In 2013, she received the distinction "Sofia Kovalévskaya” awarded by the Mexican Mathematical Society. From 2016 to 2018 she was a CONACyT postdoctoral fellows at Goethe-Frankfurt University in Germany, working in the group of Professor Anton Wakolbinger. Then she was postdoctoral scholar at Stanford University under the co-direction of Professor Julia Palacios and Professor Noah Rosenberg. Since August 2020 has been a full-time Associate Professor C in the Department of Statistics at ITAM. She is also member of the National System of Researchers in Mexico, Level 1. From her master’s studies she was interested in contributing to the stochastic modeling of problems that arise in Biology. This interest has motivated to develop probability theory and stochastic processes, with the aim of describing population structures under the action of evolutionary forces such as selection, mutation and recombination. Her analytical skills, together with her passionate about population genetics, have allowed her to collaborate with the probabilistic community in the world. From this collaborations she has obtained relevant contributions to the coalescent theory and branching processes. In the educational field, she was professor during the Fall semester in 2015, at the Faculty of Physical-Mathematical Sciences of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa. In addition to having the experience of having been an assistant to the professors of the postgraduate courses in Probability and Statistics that are taught at CIMAT.
